Blog#2: Ryōtarō Shiba(Jason)

I am reading the Kunitori monogatari( 国盗り物語) lately. This novel wrote by Ryōtarō Shiba in 1964. This novel is set in the Warring States Period in Japan and focuses on three characters Saitō Dōsan, Oda Nobunaga and Akechi Mitsuhide.

I used to be watch the historical drama series on NHK TV and the Saka no Ue no Kumo (坂の上の雲) is a reason why I am start to readding his novels. I think Ryōtarō Shiba's novels is a good way to know about the historical person. Certainly, it is a fiction and maybe not all the events is real on the novels, but on me, it is a different point of view to see a historical person and there can find more interest and more fun.

  1. Although I don't read much historical fiction, I have read a lot of books about Japan and a lot of fiction by Japanese authors. It is a good way to get to know Japanese culture.
